The world’s fastest…tractor?

Usually when you hear about land speed records being beaten you think a supersonic car somewhere out in the salt flats. Well let’s take a trip across the pond to Yorkshire where they are trying to beat the world’s fastest tractor record.

In 2018 the Stig, from the BBC’s Top Gear, set the fastest tractor speed at a whopping 87.27 mph. Although it may not seem that fast imagine reaching that speed in something that is definitely not built for it.

Well Guy Martin, who is a TV presenter and motorcycle racer decided to beat that record. With help from a British engineering company they modified a JBL Fastrac 8000 tractor and got it to reach 103.6mph.

Beating that record was exciting but they wanted more. They went back to the garage and after four months they were ready to try again. They returned to the track and had a recorded average speed of 135.191 mph after two passes. They successfully surpassed any other records and were given an award by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Would you take a ride that fast in a tractor? Let us know what you think in the comments!
