Toyota gives a paramedic a new SUV after his was destroyed during the Texas winter storm

Trey McDaniel who is a paramedic works in Texas. He was involved in the icy interstate crash in Fort Worth last week which involved 130 cars. He was driving his 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser. When he saw that there was a crash ahead he tried to stop.

Although at this point he was already driving on black ice. He was unable to stop so he crashed. In an interview with NBC Dallas Fort Worth. McDaniel said,

Right, when I saw it, I put my foot on the brake and I had already hit black ice at that point. There was absolutely no stopping. And I just so happened to look up in my rearview mirror and I’m just watching a semi-truck barreling towards me full speed.

After he was able to get out of the vehicle McDaniel got out of his FJ Cruiser and began assisting other drivers. He was in a uniform so the ambulance that arrived on site mistook him for a responder. Even though McDaniel was a little disoriented from the crash he tried to help other drivers as much as he could.

When the other responders realized that McDaniel had actually been involved in the crash they made him go to the hospital to get check out. He posted the pictures of the incident on a subreddit.

Toyota quickly found out about the selfless paramedic. Toyota decided to replace his SUV free of charge. While the FJ isn’t sold anymore they let McDaniel choose whatever vehicle he wanted. He ended up choosing a 4Runner TRD Pro. Shout out to McDaniel for being a great selfless person and shout out to Toyota for helping him out.
