The 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance has a V8 and an LSD

With most car manufacturers shying away for big V8 engines it’s nice to see that Toyota is going back to basics with a 5.0L V8 in their new 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance car. While the name is a bit of a mouthful the car seems rather impressive.

The 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance makes 472-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8 with 395 pound-feet of torque. It succeeds the Lexus IS F which offered just 416 horsepower and 371 lb.-ft. of torque. The Lexus IS F was in production from 2007 to 2014. This means that there hasn’t been a major update to the car for 7 years.

While the car has some body differences like a raised hood and body line changes it is still very reminiscent of the Lexus IS F. The New IS 500 makes about as much power as the RCF Coupe while weighing about 200lbs lighter.

The Lexus IS 500’s 0-60 is 4.5 seconds. That’s pretty quick seeing as the car is meant to be a competitor for BMW’s M series cars. The car comes with multiple drive modes. The modes range from Eco, Normal all the way to Sport +.

Included with this car is the Lexus Dynamic Handling package. This includes adaptive suspension, upgraded components like springs and dampers, and a Torsen limited-slip differential. There are also performance brakes included with better brake cooling.

No word on how much the new Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance is going to be priced at. Although Lexus says that the cars will start hitting the lots at the end of 2021. Are you interested in the IS 500 F? Let us know what you think below!
