Nascar bans confederate flag from all of its races, events and their properties

With the current politcal climate the confederate flag has been viewed as a racist flag. If ou remember in recent years people were destroying confederate monuments. Corporations that own shows like the Dukes of hazzard have been pushed to remove the confederate flag content from their stations.

Bubba Wallace who is the only full-time African American driver in the Nascar Cup sereies recently called for the banning of the flag from the races. Nascar said in a statement,

The presence of the Confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry,

In an interview Bubba Wallace said that he wanted Nascar to continue to make a movement into completely removing the flag from their events.

“No one should feel uncomfortable when they come to a NASCAR race. It starts with Confederate flags,””Get them out of here. They have no place for them.”

Originally the flag didn’t bother Bubba but after further research he saw that the flag made people quite uncomfortable. A lot of this has sparked after the killing of the unarmed black man, George Floyd, by Minneapolis police. Wednesday night Wallace will be driving a car with a black lives matter scheme at his race.
