Guy leads troopers on a 140mph chase. Says he did it because he thought that they couldn’t catch his 2002 Acura.

A man from Lake County, Indiana is sitting behind bars tonight. Police said that he led them on a 140-mile per-hour chase. The driver of the Acura was traveling on the highway at 116mph. A trooper was sitting in the median checking speeds of the vehicles. The speed limit in the area was 55mph so the driver was clearly driving at excessively high speeds.

As the trooper pulled out and turned on his lights the driver of the Acura decided to try to make a run for it. The driver increased his speed to 140mph and started weaving throughout traffic. He passed on the median a few times before coming to a stop. The driver, Dino Lorenzo Gagliano, who is 20 was taken into police custody.

Gagliano stated that he was surprised that the troopers caught up to him because he assumed the trooper cruisers only had six cylinders. Gagliano stated that he was concerned about his license but decided to run anyway.

Gagliano was arrested and transported to the local jail. He was charged with reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, speeding, unsafe lane change, failure to signal and resisting arrest which is a level 6 felony. Hopefully he’ll learn from his mistakes and become a better functioning member of society. Fortunately for him he’ll have plenty of time to think about his actions.
